Planning Your Move
Here are some hints you might find helpful:

Get coordinated in advance. Use this checklist to monitor your progress.

Your sales contract should cover possession of the home and moving date. It is not a good idea for seller and buyers to meet on the front lawn with furniture going in and out.

Once you are reasonably confident the sale will go through, start weeding out your current possessions.

Compare moving plans. Determine if you will do the entire move yourself or hire a professional mover to handle the entire process.

Make a list of important items you will need for your new house, including draperies, blinds, shower curtains, etc.

Start packing early. Anything you will not be using before moving day should get boxed.

Find a “staging area” where items ready to be moved are placed.

Mark every box and carton. It will be much easier if you need a packed item before the move and will be much simpler after the move.
